Hello everybody,
It has been a busy few weeks for my husband and myself, we have driven from Darwin in the Northern Territory to Perth in Western Australia nearly 5,000 kilometres. Our oldest son and his wife bought their first home in Queensland and wanted Dad & Mum to visit and see them, so that trip was another 4,000 kilometers to the other side of the country, but this time by plane.
Australia is a huge country and it can take 4 to 5 hours to fly from one side to the other. We had a wonderful time seeing them and visited some beautiful spots on the Gold Coast.
Back to Perth now and a visit to York a small town out of Perth were we have bought a little cottage. We are replacing the roof so just a short stop staying in our caravan. A visit with both our fathers who are in their late 80s and still living at home.
Holt Rock Hoedown
We are now about 400 kilometres from Perth on a farm were a weekend of country music is enjoyed raising much needed funds for the Flying Doctor Service. This valuable service will fly to remote rural properties and fly sick and injured people to the nearest large hospital. A very important service in remote Australia.
My husband, some friends and myself volunteer to help with the work that goes in to running such a weekend. I also sing at the venue as part of the entertainment for the weekend. The three days of music are held in a large shed on a farm which has a stage, dance floor and table seating for around 250 people.
Its very popular and many people travel from neighbouring farms and towns to attend. Holt Rock Hoedown is a great event bringing communities together and people forging great friendships and raising much needed money for a great cause. I still try to work on my Facebook page everyday if I have internet service Activities for Seniors.
My youngest son Lee who I run Memory Lane Therapy with posts out all our orders while we are on the road. I hope everyone has a terrific November we are getting very close to christmas now so coming into a very busy time for everyone.
