No-Sew Heart Pillow Craft Step-by-Step Instructions:

Follow these step-by-step instructions to craft your New-Sew Heart Pillow! Make sure to take some notes, do not leave a step behind. Are you ready? Let’s go!

    1. Prepare the Materials

Start by collecting all the necessary materials. Ensure you have everything ready before beginning the craft. This preparation step helps seniors stay focused and enjoy the process without interruptions. Arrange the materials neatly on a table, providing enough space for each participant to work comfortably.

    2. Create the Heart Template

Using the A3 card or cardboard, draw a large heart shape. If some seniors are unable to draw, prepare templates in advance for them to trace. Cut out the heart carefully, as this will serve as the guide for cutting the fabric.

    3. Cut the Fabric

Place the cardboard heart template on the used red shirt. Trace the heart shape onto the fabric using a marker or chalk. Ensure the outline is visible for easy cutting. When cutting the fabric, leave an additional 5 cm around the edge to create an allowance for tying. This allowance ensures the pillow is secure and has a neat finish.

    4. Make Strips for Tying

Carefully cut the 5 cm allowance into strips around the heart shape. The strips should be approximately 1 cm wide and evenly spaced. These strips will be tied together to form the pillow’s edges. For seniors with limited dexterity, assist by pre-cutting or demonstrating the technique.

    5. Tie the Edges

Take two strips from opposite sides of the heart and double-knot them together. Continue tying the strips around the heart, leaving one side untied to allow for stuffing. Encourage seniors to take their time and ensure the knots are secure. For those who may find it challenging, provide assistance or pair them with a helper.

    6. Stuff the Pillow

Once most of the edges are tied, add pillow stuffing to the heart. Use your hands to evenly distribute the stuffing, making sure the pillow feels soft and well-shaped. Allow seniors to personalize the fluffiness based on their preferences. If needed, provide guidance on how much stuffing to use for a plump and cozy pillow.

    7. Seal the Pillow

Finish the craft by tying the remaining untied strips. Double-knot each pair to ensure the stuffing stays securely inside. Check for any loose areas and reinforce knots if necessary. Seniors will enjoy seeing their creation come to life during this step.
